Victorian Congress 2025

Women changing the climate

A festival of women leading climate action

Dja Dja Wurrung Country, Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia
Friday 28 to Sunday 30 March 2025
Venue: Castlemaine Town Hall, 25 Lyttleton Street, Castlemaine

At the end of March 2025, 100 women, representing many women’s organisations and ages, including young women, older women, rural women, women with disabilites and more responded to our call and travelled to Castleamine from all over Australia for our inperson WCC Victorian Congress 2025.

From the first social gatherings in Castlemaine on Friday 28 March, to the closing circle on Sunday 30 March, the energy was sky high as women shared their stories and passion for leading a national and international paradigm shift to promote more rapid action on climate change based on compassion, kindness, and care for all life on Earth.

You can feel the vibe in this Highlights of the Victorian Congress video prepared by Supriya Perera.

Part congress and part festival, this event included:

  • Keynote presentations about:

    • challenging the status quo and amplifying women’s voices and leadership for action on climate change at the local, national and international levels

    • shifting the public discourse to multistakeholder non-partisan collaboration to promote united action to restore care for the Earth and all life to the centre of all our action on climate.

  • Reading and discussing the WCC Charter for Change: A call to climate action.

  • Workshops that explored the futures we want to bring into being and gave voice to our advocacy to act on climate change, challenge the status quo and help spread our messages about women and climate.

  • A pop-up art exhibition, with an array of responses to women’s advocacy, climate and environmental issues by participating women artists.

  • Learning a sacred circle dance.

  • Singing led by Congress participants.

  • and more …
